Etsy Reusable Sandwich Bags Giveaway and Review (12 Stores, 6 Winners)

After reading this post, you will never have to buy Ziploc bags again.

Since I gave up disposable baggies, I have reviewed a few commercially- made reusable food bags and wraps.  But as a devoted Etsy fan, I decided I also should feature some Etsy products.  Go on Etsy’s website and search for sandwich or snack bags and you quickly discover that there are A LOT of Etsy stores selling reusable food bags.   All those sellers, all those materials and fabrics, all those designs and prices – it can be overwhelming!

Lucky for you, I have spent hours browsing these stores and now present to you some of my favorites.  I have personally tested bags from each of the stores (each store sent me at least one bag free for review).  These stores were selected for their competitive prices, awesome features, and lovely fabrics.  I also deliberately included stores that would demonstrate the variety of designs available.  If you don't have an Etsy account, you might want to make one now, so you can add some or all of the stores below to your "favorites."

Note on Prices
I list total prices including shipping to the U.S. International readers should check the Etsy product page for shipping charges outside the U.S. (listed at the bottom of the product page).  Almost every Etsy seller charges much less for shipping on additional items, so you will save by ordering several items at once.

and eco-conscious sandwich and snack bag set

About:  Based in Athens, Tennessee, Celeste Blake Designs features reusable sandwich bags, snack bags, sandwich and snack bag sets, gallon-size bags, as well as tote bags.  Become a Facebook fan here.  Use the coupon code  APPRECIATION for 10% off.
Prices and Sizes:    Prices include the cost of shipping to the U.S.  Sandwich bag is 7" x 7" and costs $10.20.  Snack bag measures 5.75" x 4.5" and costs $9.20.  A sandwich and snack set like the one pictured above costs $14.65 .  Gallon-size bags measure 11" x 12" and cost $11.69.
Materials:  100% cotton exterior, heavy nylon liner, zipper closure across the top.
Care:  Wipe clean or machine wash and air dry.
Features:  No exposed seams. I love the zipper closure!  The nylon liner is heavier than the ripstop nylon used by most Etsy stores.  The thicker liner means that these bags are a bit bulkier than other bags.  They are also more waterproof and keep food fresher longer.  This means they would be especially good choices for long-term storage, for very wet snacks, and for food you store in the fridge (like cheese) or freezer (like cookies).

  5. I really only use disposable bags for the freezer {maybe 5 a week}...I do pretty good using storage containers to bring snacks along! The containers take up a lot of room in the diaper bag though so I really need smaller bags to hold snacks for my son!

  6. I don't use lots of plastic bags because I only pack 4 meals a week, and our family uses mostly containers for leftovers. My personal use is probably less than ten bags a week. I would use these bags for everything I currently use plastic for including snacks, sandwiches, and my mini breakfast casseroles.

  8. We use a lot of reusable containers and not many ziploc bags. The ones we use stay in the fridge or freezer for weeks/months and we reuse them again. I'd estimate 5 bags/week.

  9. I love the Green Fly's snack bags. My kids never want to use zippies now. Since they have their own snack bags, they can now go into the drawer, pull out their bag and pour their own snack. WooHoo!

  10. I estimate that i use 20 a week with my daughter's school lunches, snacks on the go and food stored in the fridge and freezer. That is probably a low estimate. i would love using reusable. I guess i have not bought any because our current budget does not leave extra money for these things. Money is too tight.

  23. I used to use a lot of baggies, like 10 or more a week. I have recently tried to cut down on my baggie use but its really hard. I have been trying to reuse things to put leftovers in and use tupperware for on the go items which is still bad but at least I don't throw it away after each use.

  46. I only use a few plastic bags a week, since we use my homemade bags and a lot of glass pyrex containers. There are some things I have not been able to give up...ziploc freezer bags for frozen vegetable bags that explode, for example. Or ziploc bags to seal up paper towels soaked in cat barf to stop the smell so I don't have to take the trash out immediately. TMI? :-) One thing I need to do is purchase a big jar to hold things like muffins in the fridge instead of using a big ziploc.

  62. These are very cute, honestly I have never really thought much about reusable sandwich bags before but the one by Sandra Kay is very nice in that there are no zippers to get rusted or broken, or Velcro to get gunked up with stuff. My beautiful girl and Roly Poly Crafts are also very cute and I like that there is a variety of patterns to choose from. But the really nice feature I liked about Roly Poly is the pull liner that is waterproof. The High Fiber snack bags have the nice box bottom feature that I think is practical.

  63. These bags are a good idea. I should use them instead of so much plastic.

  64. Reuseable bags are a great idea. Currently we wash out our Ziploc bags and reuse many times over and over, which saves us money, but I always wonder how "green" it is given the water that goes into the washing??? Just the reminder to cut back on plastic baggies is welcome. Thanks!

  65. I like...

snaksaks - the cute whales sandwich bag (we actually own this one!)

HouseJewels - the plain bag (like in your picture), the bag with the embroidered heart, and the personalized (embroidered) bag(s)

  71. I love reusable snack/sandwich bags. I do like the ones we use for school lunches because they are wrap-style covers that can accommodate different thicknesses - such as a bagel sandwich. These etsy ones would work well for snacks.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I don't know if the plastic bags from bread, tortillas, etc. count. That is what we mostly use but I'd say for ziploc-kind that I'm pulling out new from a box, 1 per week.

  73. Thanks for the chance.

  74. We use about 4, but I'd like to cut down on that. I like the natural and earth-toned fabrics best, but they're all fab.

  75. I am embarrassed to say how many plastic baggies we use a week. We certainly fall short of environmentalism in this department. We use at least nine baggies a day in lunch-related packaging. We use many freezer bags (in our plans for "saving some for later." We also use baggies for snacks and leftover tidbits.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I have heard about these bags before, but have not taken the extra effort to find out where they can be purchased (and I obviously have not researched them as extensively as you have). I would love to try these out.

  82. I think we probably use about 3 ziplocs a week, just on meat. Sometimes I do freeze fruit in Ziplocs. Do you know you can put bananas in the freezer right in their peel? I do that and then just run it under warm water to thaw it a bit before I peel it with a knife.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I went to SnakSacs, Sandra Kay, My Beautiful Girl and Roly Poly Crafts and I LOVE the fabric prints that SnakSacs uses. I know we're buying this stuff for practicality, but it sure doesn't hurt if the prints are darling :) Sandra Kay's fabric lunch bags are cute too. That would be an easy way to set my kids lunchboxes/bags apart from the other kids at school.

  90. We don't go through many bags, but after watching "Bag It!" I want to get rid of them ALL. I'd say we go through *maybe* one a week (on average) and that's primarily for things that are odd shaped or my FH is too lazy to put something in a durable container. We would use these for sandwiches, chips, etc.
